The cave is overshadowed by an old fig tree and is set in a lush landscape. According to legend, the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite bathed in the waters of the cave. Also according to Greek mythology, Venus met Adonis' lover in the area when he stopped to drink water while hunting. Adonis fell in love as she drank the water from the cave. The baths of the Goddess are found in the northwestern peninsula of Cyprus, the peninsula of Akamas and specifically between the villages of Latsi and New Horkon. The cliffs of the Akamas Peninsula start from the bathing area. It is a natural landscape of exceptional beauty. A natural reservoir, surrounded by tall rocks forming a kind of cave.
