The remains of a unique and ancient church dedicated to Saint Gennadius are found in the village. Unfortunately the church, as well as the village, has been left to passage and decay. It is a stone-built single-aisled vaulted church. Its value lies not only in the fact that it is a building of the Byzantine period but also in the fact that St. Gennadius was buried here. Saint Gennadius ascended the patriarchal throne of Constantinople in 458 AD. He worked hard to bring many heretics back to the church and fought against the heresy of monophysitism.
